Video Of 1st Cleanup Event for 2007

The members of the Crime Prevention Program of the Department of Public Safety (DPS), which includes high school kids who are in the Junior Police Officers Program as well as the Law Enforcment Explorer Program (LEEP) teamed up with my office and RC&D for this clean-up event. This cleanup, which occured on January 5, 2007, kick-started the 2007 cleanup events. We cleaned the Kagman High School area with the Junior Police Officers and Law Enforcement Explorer Program (LEEP) members. Afterwards, the group hiked down to Marine Beach. Great job everyone!

Kagman Airfield Public Hearing

Foggy Lao Lao Bay From Kagman High School
I attended the Public Hearing that the Army Corps of Engineers conducted concerning the cleanup of the old Kagman Airfield. This Airfield was used by the American Military during WWII and, therefore, qualified as a FUDS (Formerly Used Defense Site). This means that Uncle Sam is responsible for cleaning this mess up. Live ordinances and other military debris were buried here that have to be carefully dug up and disposed of properly. I hate to sound like a broken record but, again, it would have been good to see more Kagman residents attend this public hearing.
