Our First Coral Reef Mural Contest Planning Meeting

Earlier this year, we held a press conference with DPS Commissioner Rebecca Warfield and Officer Tricia Seman to discuss the rash of graffiti that cropped up all over this beautiful island of ours. Rather than just repaint over the graffit, I had this idea that we would have a mural-painting contest that would involve local artists, art teachers, and the young students involved in working together to paint either a bus stop or a vacant building. Imagine how much nicer it would look to our visitors and our community if, instead of looking at graffiti, we saw beautiful, colorful mural paintings. Tonight, we moved closer and closer to that goal.

We met for a couple hours and put together our "wish list" of supplies, prizes, etc.
We also discussed when to hold this contest and how we would go about it.

Marites heeded my request and brought by a proposed budget for the Contest, as did Angelo. Ken and I added our own suggestion to the "wish list", as did the other planning team members.
And then in walked Missy and Bev! MISSY! It's *GREAT* to have you back!

And speaking of being back, I was THRILLED to see Brad back. I'm sorry I didn't get to share any chicken nuggets with him but, then, I didn't get any this time and he didn't stick around long enough to get hungry. LOL!

March Blogfest

It was nice seeing everyone at the March Blogfest at Java Joe's. Nice to have Captain Carl back. Welcome Back, Captain! Enjoyed his stories about his trip to India and about planting a tree on behalf of Beautify CNMI! at the hospital. Good going, Cap. I especially enjoyed the story about the calf and the hairless dolfin tatoo. That's definitely worth blogging about. I'll be looking for it on your blog. LOL!I saw BoReGo, Saipan Writer, and Life in Oceania, though they left before these pictures were taken. Sorry guys. Perhaps we'll catch you next time. Hope to see everyone else next month!

Our First Bloggers Meet Up

We had our first Bloggers Meet Up at Java Joe's last evening (January 31, 2007). There were 10 of us who were there. Some were old pros at blogging, such as Walt Goodridge and Angelo Villagomez, but the rest of us were at different stages of our blogger development. :D For instance, some of us just started a blog, and some of us had been blogging for a little while, but perhaps not as long as our two blogging leaders -- Angelo and Walt. We all went there with different needs and expectations.

I enjoyed meeting Melissa in person and was happy to pick up some tips from her. Thanks, Melissa! I'd met the other blogger friends who were there so it was great to see and be with them. The food and coffee at Java Joe's was terrific. I had beef brisket and some hot chicken wings. The way it works is you buy something and they give you a password which you'll need in order to use their internet privileges.

I was able to get help from Angelo on my blog. It still needs a few more bells and whistles, but I'm getting there. Olomwaay and thanks, Angelo. Thanks to you and Walt for sharing your talents and knowledge with us infanbloggers.
